How to apply for membership

Thank you for your interest in joining Aberdour Boat Club.

Below you can either download an Application form, which includes the Club’s constitution, in either .pdf or Microsoft Word .doc format, or you can simply fill in our online form.

Applications are published on the Club’s notice board before being considered by the Committee at its next meeting. If you do not have a proposer/seconder, you will be invited to an interview with the Committee.

Club Info

The club was founded in 1930 and has approximately 100 members at present with a variety of boats, mainly fin or bilge keel yachts and some motorboats. The sailing season runs from April to October with a varied programme of club and inter-club racing as well as cruises in company and the annual Regatta.

There is a programme of monthly social evenings during the winter, usually on the last Friday of each month as well as a Christmas Party and Burns Supper.

There is a considerable element of “self help” within the organisation of the club, which enables subscriptions to be kept low, but relies for its success on members volunteering to lend a hand, especially on work parties, when general maintenance of the facilities is undertaken.

The Club works closely with the Pier & Harbour Committee of the Aberdour Residents’ Association. The Club owns the Clubhouse, Workshop and Middle Shed and leases the Dinghy Park and Bay Mooring rights from the Crown Estate. The Pier & Harbour Committee manages the pier and harbour on behalf of Fife Council. As a result, administration and charging is split between the Club and the Pier & Harbour Committee.

Harbour moorings

these are administered by the Pier & Harbour Committee. Berths are restricted to boats less than 28 feet which are able to take the ground and are subject to availability. Mooring users are required to provide and maintain their own fore and aft chains and lines to attach to the heavy ground chains (which are maintained by Aberdour Boat Club). The current charges are £2.75/ft per season (April to October).

The Club administers the licensing of deep water moorings in the bay. Bay mooring users are required to provide and maintain their own tackle and moorings. Use is restricted to the season (April to October) and an annual charge of £40.00 is payable to the Crown Estate. Bay mooring users are required to contribute to and assist with lifting and relaying of the bay moorings every three years. Mooring spaces are subject to availability.

The Club has a limited amount of mooring tackle for sale at cost price and can provide advice on other suppliers and suitable specifications etc.

Craning in & out

Craning in and out is organised bi-annually by the Club – the charge for the crane is split amongst the participating boats and is approximately £50 each way per boat and £20 per mast.

Winter lay-up berths

Winter lay-up berths on the shore and pier are administered by the Pier & Harbour Committee and (subject to availability) are charged at £2.00/foot or £2.75/foot for the period respectively. For smaller boats (dinghies and trailer sailers), winter storage may be available in the dinghy park at £1.50/ft.

Storage Facilities

Storage facilities for tenders/outboards and trailers/cradles etc are administered by Aberdour Boat Club and subject to an annual fee of £5. Pier access for parking is administered by the Pier & Harbour Committee and subject to a small annual fee.

Please note that all moorings and storage facilities for dinghies, trailers etc are subject to application and availability. If you are interested in securing a Harbour Mooring, I would encourage you to make early contact with the Harbourmaster;

to establish availability.

Bay mooring spaces are currently available, but you would need to make your own arrangements to lay a mooring in the designated area. Please note that the moorings are due to be lifted this winter (2020/21) for triennial repair and maintenance.
